You can then set up domain name services for your network by running a DNS server on one of the machines. This machine becomes your network's DNS server. You can then give your machines fully qualified domain names and configure your DNS server to translate the names to their corresponding IP addresses. As shown in Figure 7-2, for example, you could give the machine 192.168.0.1 the name turtle.mytrek.com, and the machine 192.168.0.2 the name rabbit.mytrek.com. You can also implement Internet services on your network such as FTP, Web, and mail services by setting up servers for them on your machines. You can then configure your DNS server to let users access those services using fully qualified domain names. For example, for mytrek.com network, the Web server could be accessed using the name www.mytrek.com.

Physical hazard. This type of hazard involves the physical properties that influence the chances of loss from various perils. Moral hazard. This type of hazard involves the character of persons involved in the situation, which might increase the likelihood of a loss. One example of a moral hazard is the dishonest behavior of a person who commits fraud by intentionally damaging property in order to collect an insurance payment. This dishonest behavior results in a loss to the insurance company. Morale hazard. This type of hazard involves a careless attitude toward the occurrence of losses. An insured person or organization, knowing that the insurance company will bear the brunt of any loss, may exercise less care than if forced to bear any loss alone, and may thereby cause a condition of morale hazard, resulting in a loss to the insurance company. This hazard should not be confused with moral hazard, as it requires neither intentional behavior nor criminal tendencies. Legal hazard. This type of hazard involves an increase in the severity and frequency of losses (legal costs, compensation payments, etc.) that arises from regulatory and legal requirements enacted by legislatures and self-regulating bodies and interpreted and enforced by the courts. Legal hazards flourish in jurisdictions in which legal doctrines favor a plaintiff, because this represents a hazard to persons or organizations that may be sued. The American and European systems of jurisprudence are quite different. In the American system, it is much easier to go to court, and producers of goods and services thus face an almost unlimited legal exposure to potential lawsuits. The European courts have placed higher hurdles in the path of those who might take legal action against another party. In addition, commonsense standards of what is actionable are different in Europe and the United States.

Most robots use gears that have play due to manufacturing tolerances and wear and tear. Also wheels tend to slip and motors tend to behave differently, all resulting in inaccurate movement of the robot. So the movement you expect is not what you get. 2. Compasses and GPSs are relatively expensive and generally not as accurate as desired. Affordable electronic compasses are often only accurate to 5 not 1 as we would

Most networks, including the Internet, use a set of network protocols called TCP/IP, which stands for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol. On a TCP/IP network such as the Internet, each computer is given a unique address called an IP address. The IP address is used to identify and locate a particular host-a computer connected to the network. It consists of a number, usually four sets of three numbers separated by periods. An example of an IP address is 192.168.0.1. You will have to assign an IP address to each host on your network. The IP address consists of a number composed of four segments separated by periods. Depending on the type of network, several of the first segments are used for the network address and several of the last segments are used for the host address. For a small local network, the first three segments are the computer's network address and the last segment is the computer's host ID (as used in these examples). For example, in the address 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0 is the network address and 2 is the computer's host ID within that network. Together, they make up an IP address with which the computer can be addressed from anywhere on the Internet. IP addresses, though, are difficult to remember and easy to get wrong.
